Research project: The Active Citizenship and the EU

This project involved collecting and analysing current policies on active citizenship from across the EU 27 member states. The aim was to map the current challenges and approaches towards tackling them - in particular the effects of the economic crises. Alongside the policy data there is an analysis of levels and trends of engagement and an examination of factors that facilitate engagement.

The research reports identify aspects of education and training that can act as barriers to engagement with citizenship in the EU. There is also a Good Practice report, although this has limited examples of educational practice.
